As an empath, navigating relationships can feel daunting. Your sensitivity to emotions and energy allows you to understand the dynamics at play, making it essential to differentiate between genuine connections and those rooted in manipulation or control. One vital practice you can adopt is “testing the spirit.” This approach helps you identify the true intentions of those you meet and fosters healthier interactions.
The Importance of Observing Actions over Words
When you encounter someone new, focus on their actions, not just their words. For instance, if someone often boasts about their achievements while putting others down, it might signal narcissistic tendencies. You may also pick up that their actions do not match their energetic signature, which is a huge red flag for empaths. Although there are people who are on the scale of autism, that would be an entirely different post in itself. Research indicates that around 60% of narcissists exhibit self-centered behavior that minimizes others’ contributions.
Consider how they prioritize conversations. Are they eager to hear about your experiences or primarily interested in themselves? A lack of genuine curiosity about others may indicate deeper issues with empathy. Remember, it’s often the subtle actions—like a dismissive glance or constant interruptions—that reveal someone’s true nature.
Scenario:
You meet someone new, and they appear charismatic, but you start sensing something off in their energy. You feel a mix of admiration and discomfort, but you're unsure if it's just your sensitivity or if there's something more.
You ask about their experiences or opinions, but they consistently redirect the conversation back to themselves. They rarely show interest in others' feelings or viewpoints.
Setting Boundaries and Noticing Reactions
Establishing clear boundaries is a practical way to gauge a person's intent. When you communicate your needs—say, by taking a break during a conversation—observe their response closely.
A narcissist might react with irritation or guilt, showcasing a lack of respect for your feelings. For example, they may say, “You’re too sensitive,” or “You shouldn’t feel that way.” In contrast, a healthy and empathetic person will respond with understanding, perhaps by saying, “I appreciate you telling me how you feel.” This contrast can be telling and serves as a strong indicator of their emotional intelligence.

Let the gaslighting begin! Here is a tidbit of info for those of you who deal with these things regularly. Say, Vade Retro Satana (get thee behind me, Satan in Latin) with confidence and in a commanding way. This will inform you even more quickly if you are dealing with a demon or not. If you know the person is telepathic, scream the phrase in your head as if from the top of your lungs. Let me know what happens by coming back to this post.
Many Westerners are dealing with similar strongmen connected to a territorial principality that connects through and to the DNA. This is why we encourage those we have helped over the years to cross water when fighting against particular creeps. It also helps to go back 3 generations to find who made a deal and what it consists of if you so care.
Assessing Reactions to Vulnerability
Sharing your experiences and vulnerabilities can help build strong connections. However, it’s also an essential test for those in your life. When you open up about a personal struggle, like a challenging work situation or a recent loss, take note of their response.
Do they validate your feelings and provide support? For instance, if you share that you’ve had a tough week, an empathetic listener might say, “I’m sorry you’re going through this; it sounds really challenging.” On the other hand, a narcissistic person may downplay your experience by saying something like, “That’s nothing compared to what I’m dealing with.” This dismissive attitude can leave you feeling drained and alone.
To go further, some coverts will approach the situation with caution and say things like, "I'm sorry you're going through this; it sounds challenging." All the while, they are plotting to twist the knife in your spine with added betrayal or hurt. Maybe even love-bombing you into a space of letting down your guard or boundaries, only to cause even more pain than you initially experienced. Like, what the fuck.
I've learned over the years how monitoring spirits operate and if the person was only being used for a brief moment. It would call for further investigative measures. Moving forward.
Nurturing Healthy Connections
Testing the spirit is about more than avoiding negative influences; it’s a pathway to nurturing meaningful relationships. By observing actions over words, setting healthy boundaries, and carefully noticing how others respond to your vulnerability, you equip yourself to engage in fulfilling connections.
As you navigate complex interpersonal dynamics, lean on your empathic abilities. Trust your instincts, prioritize your well-being, and seek out relationships that honor your sensitivity.
By recognizing red flags early, you open the door to relationships that enrich your life. Embrace this opportunity for growth, allowing your journey as an intuitive individual to lead you toward authentic connections that celebrate your intrinsic value.
I don't know about you all, but I've learned enough in the last four years to create meaningful discussions for the remainder of my life. Narcs are demonic, and it is a spiritual battle overall. I created a nine-part blog series all about it but decided to test the waters with this post. We have to start somewhere.
